Résumé : | This report is a detailed presentation of a sub-set of the 2014 Developers Satisfaction Survey (DSS) of the IGDA (DSS 14) survey questions that were geared to collect information about working conditions, along with the Quality of Life Survey in 2009 and 2004. We also use 2 rounds of interviews with Canadian developers to enrich our interpretation of these data. It allows us to compare three milestones in the young life of this industry over the latest 15 years. As a seemingly inescapable feature of the game industry, long working hours are a primary issue. We discuss the general downward trend in both regular and overtime hours, in both expected and actual working hours, in annual weeks and weeks in a row of overtime work. |
