Résumé : This study examines how information technology (IT) consulting firms navigate the persistent tension between exploration and exploitation in rapidly evolving digital platform ecosystems. While paradox theory conceptualizes organizational ambidexterity (OA) as the coexistence of contradictory yet interdependent demands, it offers limited insight into how such tensions generate organizational transformation over time. Drawing on paradox theory and dialectical inquiry, we analyze two Microsoft partner firms to conceptualize ambidexterity as a recursive sociotechnical process. Using a qualitative multiple-case design, we trace cycles of opposition and response through which managerial actions, technological change, and client demands reshape structures and routines. Our findings show that ambidexterity evolves not through stable equilibrium or structural separation, but through iterative reconfiguration in which each response generates new tensions and adaptive adjustments. By integrating paradox and dialectical perspectives, this study advances a processual understanding of ambidexterity and contributes to IS research on sociotechnical change in digital professional service contexts.
