| Résumé : | This paper reports on a completed systematic review of digital tools and mechanisms for the recognition of prior learning and competencies (RPL). Drawing on a corpus of 171 peer-reviewed publications identified through a rigorous multi-database search, the study maps the current landscape of digital RPL instruments: open badges, micro-credentials, digital portfolios, and competency logbooks, and classifies them according to their adaptability to formal, non-formal, informal, and workplace learning contexts. The paper presents the key findings on tool characteristics and effectiveness, identifies persistent obstacles to implementation reported in international literature, highlights best evidence-based practices, and proposes concrete action pathways to guide the development of an integrated digital ecosystem for competency recognition. Situated within Quebec’s strategic ambition to become a learning society, these findings carry direct implications for educational technology design, institutional policy, credential governance, and workforce development strategy, implications that extend well beyond a single provincial context. |
