Abstract: | MISA, the learning systems engineering method presented here, aims to apply cognitive science principles to the field of instructional design. lt is represented by a model that describes lfs processes, its producfs and lfs princifles in a structured and graphical way. Its purpose is to produce a learning sysfem that is characterized by three models : a knowledge model defining the objects to be learned; a pedagogical model that specifies a process model for learning and training scenarios ; a media model that defines learning materials, tools and technological infrastructures that support learning. M/SA is particularly well suited to the design of technology-based telelearning and selflraining environments but is however intended for designing any general learning environments. lt results from a fiveyear effort that produced the first version of the method as a computerized workshop. The method was thereafter validated with instructional designers and content expefts in nine organizations and was rebuilt according fo resu/fs and observations gathered during the validations. |
