Abstract: | In this chapter, we explore the relations between continuity and change, and more specifically the temporal underpinning of these relations, based on the assumption that they are communicatively constituted. To do so, we focus on the way continuity and change have been addressed within the interdisciplinary field of organizational discourse studies (ODS) and communicative constitution of organization (CCO) perspective. While these studies are varied, they share the premise that organizational phenomena–such as organizational continuity or change–emerge through discourse and communication. Figuring out how continuity or change take place, then, is a question of understanding everyday communicative practices across, for example, meetings, e-mails, policy and strategy documents, symbolic artefacts, etc. |
