Résumé :	The Popol Vuh is a historical tale of the Maya Quiché (K'iche') people. It was discovered in Guatemala in 1601 by Spanish missionary Francisco Ximénez, who copied the original and translated it into Spanish. The first French-language translation was also written by a member of a religious order, Brasseur de Bourbourg, in 1861. Ximénez and Brasseur de Bourbourg’s translations inspired most subsequent translations until the mid-20th century because many of the translators did not master the Quiché language and therefore needed the Spanish and/or French version to fully understand the text. The analysis of paratext (foreword, notes, images, etc.) and its evolution over time enables us to note and understand the differences between versions.
